  Even though indie films are created within a very specific framework and do not adhere to the same rules as all films, this does not automatically qualify them as flawed films. They can make mistakes, and their characters can be stupid. Anything is permissible as long as the audience is not mocked or treated as stupid. I say this while reviewing Locked In because, while there appear to be deliberate mistakes (and terrible decisions), the film cannot be accused of being dumb, absurd, or even bad. This is a heist film in which things go wrong and the bad guys are far more evil than you think. A flawed mother attempting to be just in the midst of chaos is at the center. Questions about where the film goes in the second act and how everything is resolved in the third act are inappropriate.   Despite having a fairly generic title, Tyler Savage's Stalker was a pleasant surprise. I was looking for a good thriller when this small indie film arrived to brighten my day. We enter this Californian universe with a checklist of "things you aren't supposed to do if you arrive in a town like this," but good characters forced me to set that mundane list aside. Things happen in Stalker, and they almost seem inevitable given the transparency of its lead. Add to that a good script and a fancy yet humble style of filmmaking, and you have a very good thriller that will make you want to meet new people. And then some.
