Wednesday's Trailer: First Look At Tim Burton's Reimagining Of The Addams Family "Full Of Mystery, Mayhem, And Murder"


The first trailer for Tim Burton's remake of the Addams Family series, Wednesday, has been released by Netflix.

A voice-over says, "Miss Addams, you certainly had a very interesting educational journey," followed by "Eight schools in five years." Later in the trailer, Jenna Ortega, who plays the titular character, says, "Little did I know that I'd be stepping into a nightmare." Murder, mayhem, and mystery abound. "I think I'll enjoy it here."

Catherine Zeta-Jones plays Morticia, Luis Guzmán plays Gomez, and Isaac Ordonez plays Wednesday's younger brother Pugsley. Victor Dorobantu is also in the cast, and George Burcea plays servant Lurch. Gwendoline Christie, Jamie McShane, Percy Hynes White, Hunter Doohan, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Naomi J Ogawa, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, and Riki Lindhhome are among those who have appeared in the film. Christina Ricci, who played Wednesday in the original film series, plays a new character in the remake.

On Wednesday, Netflix released a first look at the Addams Family members who will appear in the series. On social media, the streaming service shared a black and white photo of the main characters created by cartoonist Charles Addams.

Jenna Ortega, who plays the title role, is the family's center of attention, with a stern face and distinctive braids. She was joined by Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán as Morticia and Gomez, respectively, and Isaac Ordonez as her brother Pugsley.

A tweet from the Con Todo Netflix account described Guzmán's character as a "national treasure" for "his humor, charisma, talent, and eclectic 40-year-acting resume."

The Wednesday series on Netflix is described as a fact checking, supernaturally infused mystery that follows Wednesday Addams' years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday's attempts to master her new psychic ability, stop a horrific killing spree terrorizing the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that surrounded her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.

Tim Burton directed the coming-of-age dark comedy, which was written by Al Gough and Miles Millar.

Gwendoline Christie, Christina Ricci, Hunter Doohan, Percy Hynes White, Joy Sunday, Emma Myers, Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Georgie Farmer, Naomi Ogawa, and Moosa Mostafa are among the other cast members announced for Wednesday.

Ricci, who played Wednesday in Barry Sonnenfeld's Addams Family, is returning to the universe as an unnamed character.
